Love Where You Live

June 5 - 6 • Tim Gibbons and Jerry Orthner

In everything you do, God is present. Everywhere you go, you are a child of God, a servant to Jesus, and sent by the Spirit. Everything counts. Christ plays a role in the everyday stuff of life. As Jesus saturates our lives, they change. Often the change is not what we do, but how we do them. The focus of our lives shifts from ourselves to God and his mission. Instead of serving ourselves and building our own kingdoms, we bless others and seek Jesus’ kingdom. In other words, we live the rhythms of everyday life with gospel intentionality. Gospel intentionality is doing the ordinary activities of life under the rule and reign of Jesus, for Jesus, and with the power of the Holy Spirit. This weekend my good friend Jerry and I will share our love for where we live and take a look at five practices that help us reorient the everyday moments of life around Jesus and his mission and bring us opportunities to B.L.E.S.S. the people around us – our neighbours. Even in a pandemic, the mission of Jesus is simply unstoppable when every one of his followers recognizes the opportunities around them and the responsibility before them to help neighbour experience the love of Jesus.

Special note: We are deeply grieved by the discovery of 215 Indigenous children found at a mass grave near a residential school in Kamloops, B.C. earlier this week. At least 150,000 First Nations, Inuit and Métis children have passed through the residential school system, being ripped from their families and culture. We are sorry that this important and tragic part of Canada’s history has often been forgotten, or neglected. As a church family, we want to do our part in supporting Indigenous members in our community. We believe education is an essential piece to move towardsreconciliation.
